If God loves us why would He allow the most horrific things to occur 2 good people & allow the evil 2 prosper?

This is a question for religious people I was brought up Christian thus I only know about my own religion (but anyone of any religion is welcome to answer). My religion says that God is love, what I don’t understand is if God loves us so much why would He allow the most horrific things to occur to the most sweetest innocent people such as , war etc cause my view is that if I truly love you I would and will do everything and anything in my power to protect you from , war etc cause those are life altering incidents. In fact even if I disliked you I would if I could protect you from that, and God has the power to do that yet woman still get d every minute. If He loves us why would He allow the evil people to prosper while normal imperfect people with what I believe have truly good hearts like myself suffer and lastly I want to know what was the purpose of creating humans and why would you create someone who had the possibility of developing depression then put events in their life that make them get that condition or worse end up in a psych ward.
