How do you get a modern Flash Drive to work on Windows 95?

I have been thinking of putting the dust-farting computer I have downstairs to work. I thought I might put it on my homework table so I can use it to help with my school work (using it other than buying a newer computer would save money). But the catch is that when I put a flash drive in it doesn't recognize it, and I don't wanna use floppy disks. Is there some sort of utility or freeware I can use to get my Windows 95 computer a little up-to-date? Thanks.
