How come Jonathon Frakes, aka commander Riker, didnt act much after stng?

imo, he is a fine actor, people undermine his style, but ive always thought he totally nailed his character. --he was a nice balance between sort of reckless thrill seeker and an annoying hollier than thou commander. Why didnt he continue with this style in other roles???
